Awards Night

Last night was the “Awards Night” celebration that ended our season with Upward. We had music, a slide-show from my “top notched” camera, performances, and of course what everyone was waiting for, awards!!!
Our guest speaker was Jay Montgomery who was an ex-Power Team guy. This guy was huge and everybody loved him. As a part of his presentation he would roll up frying pans into burritos and also crushed full soda cans that exploded everywhere. He did ask if he could do this and the soda would not stain because it was clear, but it was priceless to see the pastor’s face when he was watching soda cans explode all over the carpeted stage. Thankfully nothing was messed up and we had a great evening.
All of the basketball players and cheerleaders received an Upward duffel bag for their participation, sportsmanship, and character during the season. As league director it is about a five month commitment and so we are ready for a break, but it was definitely worth it. God blessed us and used us through the means of sports outreach.
