My Opa Died Today

Just a few hours ago my Opa passed on and was ready to “see his God,” as he told me the last time I talked to him on the phone.

He is in a better place and suffering no more because of his faith in Christ, the one who suffered for my Opa before he was even born. It brings me to tears just to write that last statement.

Oh how amazing the love and grace shown through the person of Christ. Oh how wonderful the hope we can have, and that my Opa had, to trust in the promises of our God.

It is interesting how death refocuses us on how temporary this life is and on the blessings that we have received from a personal, loving, sovereign God.

My fondest memories of Opa: visiting him at Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, during the summers as a kid; playing golf and talking about the Master’s; and having him teach me how to build a fish pond and waterfall in his backyard.

We are traveling to Augusta, Georgia for the funeral, so pray for our travels. Also pray for Dee, my grandmother, who is also in the photo, at my wedding.

We love you Opa. We will see you again.
