Native American Inspired Sneakers

I came across these soon to be released kicks via Kix And The City (Online Magazine Dedicated to Sneaker Culture).
The concept is inspired by Native American culture. Unique sneaker elements are the cracked leather and traditional Native American prints on the upper, rawhide laces with beads, and a spearhead at the ends.
It will be interesting to see how the Native American community, especially the sneakerheads, respond to the shoe. Will they rock’em with pride or view them as an uninspiring concept?

Would I rock’em? Not sure, maybe in a low top. But the light blue is a problem, not my favorite color (reminds me of North Carolina Tar Heels).

you know i think it fucked up because there shoe brand is famous for the logo and making hell of money n i think it more fucked up that there taking my culture and tradition and placing it on a show just to make more money…i mean come on people would you support this…well most of you already do but its what ever whats culture mean to all you native trying to buy a pair huh what does it mean to you…open u your eyes for to long they been taking us of our culture and finding ways o make money off of us…i am native to and i don't want a pair of these fucked up shoes no way!!!!!!!!!!

As a young native, I would be proud to wear some native looking shoes, but I agree with Ian, those shoes aren’t about the native people, those shoes are about trying to get more ethnic groups to buy their products. Come on, give us some more respect, don’t just give us a pair of shoes that aren’t really about us anyway.

I really need a pair of these shoes!! And I disagree I love the fact that Nike made a shoe for us Natives… the color and theme may not go with your personal culture. but the thought is awesome! We as natives dont always have to be bigots when it come to white socity vs natives. Like Come on now… These shoes are Dope! Lighten up quit being so…. closed minded

I agree with Native Tech….
I would love to rep and wear those shoes but like he said, they do it to get more diverse people to buy nike products. Just like the N7′s made by Nike to increase the health of Natives, at least their posture and joints and what ever that is affected by wearing poor quality shoes. But as everyone knows, the majority of reservations are poor and in poverty, so why not make a deal with Native Americans, that a percent or amount of the profit made from the sneakers will go to the reservation. I myself dont live on the res but they need more help financially, so i say give it to em, work with em, make a deal, especially with the sneakers. but i def want to get them sneakers lol.

Hells yeah! Pay the young peeps on the hell holes with more frybread, beans and rice to make them happy. Nike would do no such thing to give money to the reservations because that is the federal government's duty and obligations by acts of treaty arrangements as well as US Supreme Court rulings. We are all apart of this world, no matter what race… i don't necessarily think Nike is "targeting" just the native market with this model, there is nothing wrong with any person of race to be wearing shoes, especially nikes.. i have seen aborigines in Austrillia wearing Lebron James jersey's while hunting in the outback? We are all conected and in this together.. at this point in time, there is nothing wrong with looking fly every now and then, and these kicks are fly.. as a proud penobscot from maine.. born in Springfield mass..i would be so psyched to see a young native boy on the rez wearing this gear, and just as psyched to see a young boy in the cities wearing these dope shoes.. there is a new culture among this planet and by now it looks like it's hear to stay… but i do wish they would make more shoes out of recycled materail that look this fresh

It is pretty funny to see people being up set over a funky-ass pair of Nikes. First, I understand why Indigenous Peoples would be upset "if" the designs were taken from actual indigenous basketry designs, sacred designs or tribal identities. They actually have a look from the Natives of Turtle Island, as well as our fellow Afrikan brethrens.
