Back From Georgia Youth Trip

We are back in the state of Kentucky. And we survived another summer youth trip! But seriously, we had a great group of young people and a great trip.
A highlight on the trip down was when I heard that one of the graduates, that I mentioned before, actually brought his Do Hard Things book and read three chapters. Sweet!
First Three Days: The guys cleaned and trimmed and cut and axed and weeded and sawed and mowed through a jungle-of-a-ditch in the backyard of a sweet 80 and 87 year old couple. How sweet was this lady? She said this as we were taking a lunch break from the job: “If you don’t cut another branch, we will be so thankful you came to help us.”
The girls helped clean inside their house and on the second day went to a local community center to work as well.
In the afternoon, we put on “backyard bible studies.” We had games, puppet shows, lessons, and snacks. The first day and half went well until I got pulled over by the police! I’ll explain.
You see, a mom in the neighborhood decided to call 911 and said that some unmarked van was going around the community and trying to pick up kids without parents permission. To make it look even worse, our van had Kentucky tags and the driver (that’s me) had a California drivers license. Can you envision this headline in the local news? Youth Pastor Arrested For Attempted Kidnapping.
Thankfully, everything got worked out, when the local youth pastor that we teamed up with, came to talk with the police officers. Nevertheless, there would be no day three, and no more future activities in this community without written permission slips from the parents.
Additional work included a clean up project around the gym at Antioch Church, where we stayed in Calhoun, GA. Thank you Antioch for housing us, feeding us, and serving with us, and loving us. May God continue to use us to love each other and this world.
There are many more stories, pictures, and videos to share that will not fit into this post, so stay tuned. The picture above is from a restaurant. We were craving some Mexican food.

Note to self: Take an extra day off to recover from a youth trip instead of going straight to work the next morning!! I am exhausted!
ANY BODY WANT A SANDWICH?
Can I just mention that we ate sandwiches 7 days in a row! We couldn’t take it anymore and had to go splurge on Mexican food.
Hey, we could have used your group in India for backyard Bible clubs. Glad your home.
